After a first read discussion, give students the opportunity to do deeper analysis in written form!

Action Step of the Week

Every time you complete a first read, prompt students to write responses to the think questions:

1. Restate the question 

2. Tell students to:

   1. Think about their answer (30 seconds)

   2. Underline supporting evidence in the text (1 minute) 

   3. Then, answer the question using the ACE structure (4 minutes)
