Increase the ratio of student voice/thinking/reading by having them partner read rather than echo, popcorn, cloze, or listen to audio
Action Step of the Week
Every time you do a shared read with students, use partner reading:
Set a purpose for reading by introducing a thinking task or question for the text
Pair students (low-medium, medium-high)
Release students to read a portion of the text
Monitor students during reading
